Faye + Joe Couple Session

DSC_3205.jpg

For a long time I stopped doing a lot of weddings/couple photoshoots because at some point I feel like it’s becoming repetitive, all the same picture-perfect poses you find on Pinterest. And they are picture perfect still, just lack that...something. What once brought me a huge fulfilling feeling thinking of how meaningful a wedding is to a couple, how I am documenting one of the most important days of someone’s life, slowly becomes dull, repetitive and impersonal. Impersonal - We try to imitate all the pictures we see online that we forget that these photographs should be what the couple is about and who they are with each other.

And so I’m taking that new thought with me when my friend asks me to photograph them! These still don’t perfectly capture what I want to, but at least now I’m doing it with a new eye and it is reigniting my love in photographing lovers! To understand a couple’s dynamic, how they are with each other, what they like and (hopefully) photograph a little bit of that essence of their authentic selves in these stills.
